It's time for a Legend to finally get his due.
Mr. Pesky joins the elite, the chosen few.
The Red Sox will retire his number for all time.
His overall contribution has been sublime.
Burst on to the Red Sox in 1942.
A brief hint of success, but his country needed him too.
He went off and fought in World War II.
A true American hero through and through.
He has been a Red Sox for 66 years.
During the 2004 World Series he brought us to tears.
He is Mr. Red Sox, the keeper of our traditions.
He teaches our history to every new addition.
Mr. Pesky's contribution is beyond my meager poem.
His number 6 now has a permanent home.
I hope this moment is as great for him as it seems.
I am extremely proud he is a part of our team.
