See if this makes you feel any better.
Exactly four years ago today, after trailing in the series 3-0, the Red Sox came back to beat the Yankees by winning four games in a row. It was an historic event that changed Red Sox Nation forever.
If you’re still...

My Bad …

After about 25 innings of tortuous baseball at Fenway Park, the Red Sox, like the Phoenix, rose from the ashes. Many articles have commented on the fact that this was the greatest playoff comeback in 79 years and the second greatest of all time. No doubt, such references refer mathematically to the number of runs involved in the comeback. Last night’s game was more than that. The Red Sox appeared to be emotionally bankrupt, dejected, depressed and otherwise...

It was apparent by the third inning of game two vs. the Rays Saturday night that Josh Beckett was not going to be the Josh Beckett we were hoping to see.

Eight Reasons Not To Be Concerned...

Many of you are very apprehensive about Tampa Bay.
I suggest that you take a minute; sit back and inhale slowly. If you look at the situation logically, you will easily come up with dozens of reasons why you shouldn't have any concerns whatsoever about Tampa.
Let me point out eight of...

I wrote most of this before the game last night so that IF the game ran late, I would have it ready early today. Good call, even IF I have to say so myself.
First relax.
IF you thought the Angels were going to go away easily you were sadly mistaken. However, my money is still on the Red Sox.
Rightly or...

Terry’s Finest Hour?

Jerry Remy wrote this 2 months ago on |
In 2004 we boldly marched into the playoffs chanting “Reverse the Curse“. In 2008, as we limp in, we could well be groaning “We Need a Nurse.”
The Red Sox enter the post season for the fifth time in six years. This year’s edition is a dramatic statement of how far the organization has advanced since the days of “wait-until-next-year.”

It took today's loss in Toronto for me to come to my senses. I must admit that it took a while for me to figure the whole thing out, but I've finally done it.
Someone, somewhere deep in the bowels of MLB headquarters is orchestrating one of the cruelest hoaxes in...

Hi Everybody, It's early September and our injury-plagued team has chased the upstart Rays all season. As of this writing we are 3.5 games back with 22 games to go - 13 at home. The Rays on the other hand have 23 games remaining - only 6 at home. The Rays start a ten-day, nine game road trips tonight. Further, in the next two weeks they play the Red Sox six times. For reasons noted above, we have heard for quite a while that September favors the Red Sox. On paper that...

The Post Manny Era ... So Far!

Jerry Remy wrote this 3 months ago on |
Enough time has gone by to comment on the post Manny era.
Although it is unlikely that Jason Bay will keep hitting over .400 for the rest of the season, thus far Manny’s bat has not been terribly missed. However, you can expect that at some point it will be. He was too big of a factor in the Red Sox line-up to assume otherwise.
That was well anticipated when the trade was made.
After being in the clubhouse a lot since the trade, and watching the players in...

Regarding Manny ...

Hi Everyone,
As you are well aware, Manny is no longer swinging a bat at Fenway. Having been around Manny for several years, I have mixed emotions regarding his departure.
On one hand he is irreplaceable. It will be very difficult to replace his stats as well as his persona. On the other hand it was clear that he had become a very disruptive force on the team.
Regardless of whom you choose to blame, he had to go. Like most of you, I have always been always a...

My First Blogging Attempt ...

Hi Everyone,
I'm sorry it's been a couple of days since my last post.
The big question as the trading deadline approaches is what will the Red Sox do, if anything. I don't have any inside information but I would guess that Theo will hold to the philosophy that has served him well in the past. He will not mortgage the future by trading to temporarily plug a hole today.
If Masterson can hold down the middle relief role that will go a long way to resolve the current...
