Eight Reasons Not To Be Concerned About Tampa Bay
October 9, 2008
Many of you are very apprehensive about Tampa Bay.
I suggest that you take a minute; sit back and inhale slowly. If you look at the situation logically, you will easily come up with dozens of reasons why you shouldn't have any concerns whatsoever about Tampa.
Let me point out eight of the most obvious reasons:
- The population of Tampa is only 56.3% of Boston. Point: We have them out-manned.
- Boston spends 86.1% more on each public school student. Point: We love our kids more than they do.
- Violent crimes are 10% lower in Boston than Tampa. Point: Fewer Bostonians will be robbed today, which will means we have to borrow less to be able to purchase tickets.
- Bostonians spend significantly more money on plastic surgery. Point: We are better looking … by far!
- Even in this terrible economy our real estate values are 57.1% higher. Point: We’re worth more, which makes us happier.
- Each year Boston has 10.2% more people earning a bachelor's degree or higher. Point: We are smarter. Of course we already knew that.
- Per capita, there are 1.2% fewer unemployed people in Boston than Tampa. Point: We are more motivated.
- They get more hurricanes than we do. Point: Our concession stands don’t get blown away as often.
- The Tampa Bay Rays have only been around for 10 years. The Red Sox have been here since the great flood. Point: We are more mature than they are.
Who cares that they won almost 100 games this year, have home field advantage, had the best record in our division, have a great starting rotation, have one of the best bull pens in the league, have a competent offense, a good defense, and misguided confidence that can beat us.
Blah, blah, blah.
In the whole scheme of things how much do those things really matter. I mean really, most of us don’t even know their names!
Now that you have thought it through, don’t you feel better?
