Virtual Waiiting Rooms for Tickets
February 28, 2009

I must go off on a little rant. What's the deal with these silly virtual waiting rooms. I am totally against these. This year 10 hours were spent on Single game ticket opening day. The kicker I didn't even get tickets. MLB puts you in this "virtual waiiting" room then you are picked at RANDOM....... Are you freaking kidding me at RANDOM. How bout the lil guy from PA who wants to make his annual trip to see his favorite team... Oh forget about him....

While I am on the subject once again the Phillies host the RED SOX this year which is only 2 hrs away instead of the 6 to Fenway. What is it they do???? Well the only way to get Sox tickets is to buy a 6 game pack. The icing on the cake you ask, you only get one sox game. Thats right you only get one game you can't choose all three.. What the heck do I wanna see the Phillies 5 other times for. They don't even make the sox series available for single game purchases.

By the way, I did eventually get my tickets this year. THANKS TO RED SOX NATION !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Just my 2 cents....

I agree. I sat for ten hours and got nothing. The only way I got tickets (for October 2) was to get the ultimate fan pack for Red Sox Nation. My time is so limited, though, since I live four hours away and I can only go on either a Friday or a Sunday because I am on the air on WAMC on Saturday nights and have to be back for that. ...View More

Its at random so scalpers dont sit there and clog up the virtual ticket lines and then re-sell the tickets at triple the value. Although annoying this is the only way to keep scalpers from buying ALL the tickets. They are still there but they have to be selected at random just as you do!

And to comment on the second part, I called a guy off craigslist because he had an add stating he was selling Sox games, 2nd row behind the visitor dugout (in Oakland) for face value. When I contacted him he stated that the only way to get ONE Sox game was to purchase 11 other games. I told him, "Yeah good luck with that, youre the chump that got swindled into buying A's season tickets..."

It's all about Supply and Demand my friend!! It's as simple as that! Living in PA, and if a baseball fan, the Phils are not a bad take right now considering they are WS Champs.

I usually have to go by way of Ebay. Meanwhile the scalpers have a way around the waiting room, so it only hurts the common guy.

Up arrow simply because you took the time to post something. Remember true Sox fans give up votes. LOLOL

The VWR is pretty much a ploy to get everybody to have little mini panic attacks. I try to avoid it at all costs. Good thing one of my buddies has season tickets.

I had great luck with the VWR this year. I've been getting in within 3 hours, which is record time for me. I won a second chance offer for Opening Day/Yankee tickets and got in within half an hour. I couldn't believe it. Had to get two single seats to Opening Day, but I'll be there :)

wish i could help you out but i just have to do the real waitin in line for tickets its not random but you gotta be there early if you wanna to get a seat but its time well spent sittin with other sox fans outside on lansdowne st.

Yeah, I was just being wise. Seriously, most people have good luck with the VWR. I tried to get tickets via VWR last year and by the end of the day, I had waited for 8 hours, then it booted me out. Frustrating at best.

AND ... the Red Sox have advertised - THERE ARE STILL THOUSANDS OF TICKETS AVAILABLE. No, you won't get Yankees games, or the Mets, but there are seats available.

I heard the other day that they have 9 games that arent sold out. Scaplers should be hung at the stake. Ticket prices are in portion due to higher player salary and part to teams not wanting to lose out on money to scalpers. They go to stubhub, craigslist and other ticket sites and see how much people are willing to pay for a ticket. I think its bullsh*&t myself but if the ticket prices were lower ot the VWR was not in place there would be an even greater number of tickets being sold through the hands of scalpers. If they make it so you can only afford one game a year and are still selling out THEY are getting the money and not the scalps. ...View More

If you're willing to accept "stacked seats" ... there are plenty -- in several price ranges.

The problem with getting tickets at this point is you can't get two seats together if you go to the official ticket site. You can buy all the single seats that you want, but forget about sitting next to anyone you bring with you.

I guess I'll just be happy with my one on-site game, my minor league games with Lowell, and my MLB package on TV!

Lancaster is the place for me..I've always gone alone. I'm hoping to try with my husband in October...because I KNOW they will still be playing.
