For My Sis.....
June 24, 2008
One of the sweetest, most caring person that I have ever known....My Sister Angelica. She was the definition of loyalty in my eyes.
My Sister was diagnosed with liver cancer June of 2007. She lost the battle on April of 2008. My sister was a huge baseball fan. She loved the Dodgers. When she had surgery last year to remove part of her liver, first thing she whispered in my ear when she was out of surgery was...."did the Dodger's win?". I smiled and said, "no". She just shook her head and fell back to sleep.
In 2004, when the Red Sox were in the brink of Elimination, down 0-3 to the Yanks, she called me and said, "how are you feeling?" I was feeling awful. Always with a positive outlook, she said, "its not over yet, you never know". When the Sox came back and won, she called and said, "I told you!" I was crying on the phone like a little girl. Ha ha. When the Sox swept the Cards, again, I spoke to her on the phone, crying....she said, "I'm so proud of you, your team finally made it!". My dad was there with me, both drunk out of our mind, on the phone with my sister and I can hear him making fun of me because I had tears in my eyes. My Sister rooted for the Sox just because she wanted to see me happy.
She lived two (2) blocks away from the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum. She bought me tickets for the March 29th, 2008 pre-season game, Dodgers vs. Sox. It was supposed to be a family event for us. She was informed on March 20th, 2008 that the cancer spread to her spine and stomach. Gave her a couple months. She passed away two weeks later.
I've learned to appreciate life, knowing that any day things can drastically change. Any problems that we may face now, remember that it could be worse. Open your eyes and see the blessings that surround us everyday!
I wanted to share this story with all of you. I wanted to vent a little and I thank all you who have taken the time to read this.
