Thurman Munson
February 20, 2008
So in my earlier blog I had said that Carlton Fisk made Thurman Munson his bi&*h and after doing a little bit of research I have come to realize that I was mistaken. Munson was no bi&*h, actually he was a great player and he played his heart out. He was nobody's bi&*h.
Now I know that everyone on here hates the Yanks, and thats fine. But hate and respect are two different things. You should respect Thurman Munson. Why you might ask? Because he played the game all out and gave 110% every play. Another reason is that although they were bitter rivals Fisk actually respected Munson as well. Fisk cried when he heard that Munson had died in a plane crash. He also said these words about Munson "We never hated each. It was the uniform more than anything. We were so much alike in our attitudes about baseball. I think one of the things I regret most about my career is that Thurman and I were never teammates. He would have been a great teammate to have." Fisk went on even further: "We would have had to have played different positions, since we were both number one catchers. I know that if it wasn't for the Yankee uniform he wore, we would have gotten along great. I never hated Thurman."
Respect is earned, and Munson has earned my respect. He was a great player and I was misinformed. He was no bi&*h.
With that said, LETS GO SOX!, REPECT IN 08, RICE in 09, RESPECT/LOYALTY/FAMILY, Long live the Nation and long live the MAFIA....
