My Buddy and Me

Believe wrote this 3 months ago on |
So, Ive been drinking so excuse the miss-spellings and what not. But I was at the game tonight. I sat in section 150 row A seat 2 (which is directly behind the Red Sox bullpen RIGHT infront of the mound). HOLY SH*&T WAS THAT SWEET. I got to see Wake warm up, he was 5 feet in front of me, I saw the knuckle ball dance, and boy was it dancing tonight. I told him "get nasty for me tonight Wakey", he looked of course, and smiled. Then he got NASTY. He made the Tiggers lineup look like 3rd graders....

Things to do before you die....

Believe wrote this 3 months ago on |
(1) Go to a baseball game - Now don't just watch, but get lost in the game. Keep score, notice the little things, the things that make baseball great. Make sure you have a hot dog and a beer. Have a pinch of the finest crew money can buy. Hell wear a suit and a hat, smoke a cigar. Thats the way baseball was meant to be witnessed.
(2) Catch a Salmon - Go to Alaska, get a 9 weight fly rod, tie your own fly and catch a Salmon. Nothing will be as rewarding as catching a monster King on something...

Folks, Id like to sing a song about the American Dream
About me, about you
About the way our American hearts beat way down in the bottom of our chests
About that special feeling we get in the cockles of our hearts
Maybe below the cockles,
Maybe in the sub cockle area,
Maybe in the liver, maybe in the kidneys,
Maybe even in the colon, we dont know
Im just a regular Joe, with a regular job
Im your average white, suburbanized slob
I like football and porno and books about war

If you can keep your head when all about you
Are losing theirs and blaming it on you,
If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you
But make allowance for their doubting too,
If you can wait and not be tired by waiting,
Or being lied about, don't deal in lies,
Or being hated, don't give way to hating,
And yet don't look too good, nor talk too wise:
If you can dream--and not make dreams your master,
If you can think--and not make thoughts your aim;
If you can meet with Triumph and...

Believe wrote this 5 months ago on |
So lately I have been stressed the F*&K out, working three jobs (2 at newspapers, and one in an office) and my job in the office is KILLING me. I also have 16 credit hours in my last semester of college. So as you can see I have a pretty full plate and lately it has been catching up to me, and I feel like there is something missing, I have a longing for something that I cant quite put my finger on. This weekend I covered the Division II HS Boys Swimming Championships. The second I walked into...

Respect/Loyalty/Family

Believe wrote this 5 months ago on |
So today I was reading a blog and some slugfest comments and this CLOWN said that she hated Nomar and Petey. That really pissed me off. Here is why:
Family - Now everyone has those family members that are f*&kups, I have an uncle that I call my "drunkle". He shows up to family functions and is HAMMERED drunk and always tries to fight my dad or my grandpa. I know hes a f*&kup, hell my whole family knows he is a f*&kup BUT he is FAMILY and I have his back no matter what. THE RED SOX AND THE...

So I have a weekly column in my college paper and this weeks column is going to be ET's 2008 MLB picks. So here they are, let me know what you think.
AL EAST-THE SOX- Most of the key players of the 07 World Championship team are coming back. Manny is finally focused and has been busting his butt this offseason. I look for him to put up MONSTER numbers this year. The only real question mark is the Sox starting rotation, which I dont think is that big of a problem. I think the Sox will use...

Thurman Munson

Believe wrote this 6 months ago on |
So in my earlier blog I had said that Carlton Fisk made Thurman Munson his bi&*h and after doing a little bit of research I have come to realize that I was mistaken. Munson was no bi&*h, actually he was a great player and he played his heart out. He was nobody's bi&*h.
Now I know that everyone on here hates the Yanks, and thats fine. But hate and respect are two different things. You should respect Thurman Munson. Why you might ask? Because he played the game all out and gave 110% every...

Pudge vs. Teky
|
|
Believe wrote this 6 months ago on |
So I'm bored, and putting off homework so I decided to take a look at (in my opinion) the two best catchers in Red Sox history.
Strictly Stats -
Teky - 1063 Hs, 148 HRs, .267 BA, 611 RBIs .350 OBP, .447 SLG in 11 seasons
Pudge - 2356 Hs, 376 HRs, 1330 RBIs, .269 BA, .341 OBP, .457 SLG in 24 seasons
As you can see their numbers have the possibility of being pretty equal if Teky can stay healthy and play for 24 years. Pudge has about double the hits, and RBIs that Tek does. I credit that...

Real fans are loyal regardless if your team is 0-162 or 162-0 a real fan will stick by their team. A real fan also loves their team unconditionally and NEVER ever gives up hope and NEVER ever stops believing. I have really taken that to heart. Not just in baseball but in life I never stop believing. I have faith in my boys and my faith has been rewarded twice in my lifetime. Being a true fan also means that you have respect, not only for your team and for your fellow fans but for the great...

5. Fear Strikes Out - This was a great book, my pops read it to me when I was a young kid, maybe like 7-8 Jimmy Piersall was a crazy bastard! (The movie was good too)

What the Sox mean to me (part 2)

Believe wrote this 6 months ago on |
Wow, this is very disorganized, but I have some time on my hands now so I thought I would finish my Sox story. From my early childhood up until 2003 are a blur. Some of my fondest memories, as I had mentioned before were watching Mo Vaughn crushing homers into the bleachers at Tiger Stadium. I remember Nomar, his grace, the way he played the game was magical. I truly loved him. I remember watching the 1999 All-Star Game when Pedro was lights out. I don't think Ill ever forget that...

What the Sox mean to me!
|
|
Believe wrote this 6 months ago on |
On September 24, 1989 I became a Sox fan. On fateful Sunday my pops took me to Old Tiger Stadium for my birthday (which was Sept 30). I would be turning four years old. My pops is a DIEHARD Tigers fan, has been since the early 60s, but more importantly he is a fan of the game. So in his eyes there was no better birthday present than to take me to Tigger Stadium and introduce me to his beloved Tiggers. Now this was my first game ever, and I still remember it to this day. I remember the feeling...

Tattoo Idea

Believe wrote this 1 year ago on |
So I had the Red Sox on my ankle and I want to get my whole leg Soxed up. I was going to get a protrait of Fisk waving his homerun fair on the inside of my leg on my calf right above the sox. Then I was going to get Teddy Ball-Game on the front of my leg, and either Papi or Vek on the outside part of my calf. Then I was going to get my monster as the background for the three protraits. Finally I was going to get the retired numbers going around the top of the monster....
