Manny's Milestone

Well folks, HE DID IT!!! Manny has hit the glorious 500th Home Run of his, sure-to-be, Hall of Fame Career. As I sat on my living room floor this evening, Listening to Joe C call the game, and spending time with my Sox Family in City’s Chat (www.freewebs.com/cityofchampions) , Manny came to the plate. I hear Joe C say, ‘…and the pitch…’. Honestly, I don’t remember much more than that right now. I heard the crack of the bat...

A Time For Reflection And Appreciation

Seamus McG™ wrote this 7 months ago on |
Here we stand on the dawn of another Memorial Day. It is a time when we should take a moment and remember the reason we are able to enjoy anything at all. For me, it is due to every man in my family having worn a uniform of our fighting forces. From my grandfathers, one of which was an Army Mechanic and the other who was a Navy Mail Clerk. My uncle who was a Marine Corpsman in ‘Nam and my father who began his Naval career as a radioman on a sub, to becoming Navy...

The REAL reason the Stankees Suck

It’s a well known fact… Boston is a baseball city. We eat, sleep, breathe, and live for the Boston Red Sox. Of all the things that Bostonians hate, from potholes to lack of parking, high rent to bad winters; the one element that unites the city, if not the entire region, is the united front of New York Yankee hatred. Few things in Boston are more hated than that team from the...

They're Not That Royal

Okay Sox fans, or should I say Sawxheads, the first interleague series has come and gone. I think we showed the NL what we’re capable of doing. And that is completely dismantling teams from the ‘Senior League’. I mean, look at the last two teams they have given us; the Colorado Rockies and the Milwaukee Brewers. Now look at the results; complete series sweeps. The Rockies we supposed to be the best team in the NL last year, we all know how that played...

Renewed Accquaintance

I’ve been doing some thinking about this series. I have come to a few conclusions. No. 1: Eric Gag-me will get boo’d like hell during this series. No. 2: Gabe Kapler will get numerous standing o’s. And No. 3: People in the state of WI take their lives way to seriously. I have claimed residency in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts for this weekend series. I wore Sox gear to work today and my boss came up to me and actually told me I should consider my job...

Oh, The Way They Play With My Heart

Well folks, I haven't blogged in a while, and I won't claim to be a profound as our beloved Reverend Ron, but I will say this. I can't take a whole season of these. The last few weeks I've been glued to my Gameday Audio and the conforting voice of one, Joe Castiglione. It hasn't failed, by the 5th inning my brain tells my heart to stay strong, that we'll get the next one. As soon as I have convinced myself of another loss, the boys do it agian. Who's it gonna be? Manram, Papi, Tacoby, Dusty,...

Opening Weekend

I had the chance to go to the Brewers home opener, as well as the 2nd game of the season here in Milw. First time I had ever been to back-to-back games. I knew I was jacked up about this season after haning in City's chat for the first couple of games. Now, I know I'm infected BIG TIME. I got the baseball bug in a bad way. Just hanging at the ballpark, firing up the grill. Memories came flooding back. It was like there was a part of me that was 10 years old again. The sights, the smells, even...

I look at the RSM and I know what true family is. I see people brought together by a shared love. Here, it's the love of our 'Olde Towne Team'. I've noticed a few things since joining Sawxheads. If an individual is out of line the RSM quickly swoops in to inform said individual. It could be in a gentle manner, or, depending of the issue, a rather forceful one. If someone is being unnecessarily attacked, there again, you will see the RSM prviding aide and support. In my mind that is what a...

Childhood Innocence

I just responded to Alex and Pumkin's 'Great Baby Name Debate'. It got me thinking. I had the name chosen for my boy 8 years before he arrived. I never considered that I would have to have someone else agree to the name. I just figured I would say, this is the name and that is that. I chose the name because I wanted at least one of my children to have an easily recognizable Irish name. I held on to it and waited until the day arrived. Luckily, his mother was on board with it and so, on May 4,...

I'm A Member Of Red Sox Nation

I just thought I would add the lyrics to the song I have declared my new personal anthem. Hope you enjoy it!
(Chorus) I’m a member of Red Sox Nation, it’s a kind of a family Wherever I roam, my Fenway home, that’s where I long to be I’m a member of Red Sox Nation, it’s a kind of insanity Yeah, I’ll live and die, with Red Sox pride, for eternity
(Verse 1) I fake a smile, November until Opening...
