They're Not That Royal
May 19, 2008
Okay Sox fans, or should I say Sawxheads, the first interleague series has come and gone. I think we showed the NL what we’re capable of doing. And that is completely dismantling teams from the ‘Senior League’. I mean, look at the last two teams they have given us; the Colorado Rockies and the Milwaukee Brewers. Now look at the results; complete series sweeps. The Rockies we supposed to be the best team in the NL last year, we all know how that played out. The Brewers were supposed to be this fine group of up and coming youngsters that ‘should be a force to be reckoned with for some time’. What happened there? With the exception of the $45 million man (aka Ryan Braun) the Brew Crew really didn’t do squat.
You may be asking yourselves, of what relevance is all of this? The next team on the docket for the Olde Town Team is the Kansas City Royals. I want you all to think about that and say it again slowly. The… Kansas… City… Royals. Is there anything to be concerned with here? I think not. Seriously folks, can you name me the last ‘GREAT’ player to have worn a Royals uni? (Other than George Brett, he of the pine tar bat and Bo ‘I like Football better’ Jackson) This series should be quite uneventful as far as competition goes. On the other hand, I can see Manny eclipsing the 500 HR mark during this series. Sure, it won’t be against Gag-me (I know we all would’ve loved that), but it will still be an enjoyable moment nonetheless.
Enjoy this one folks.
Happy Hunting and let us dethrone the Royals!
