blowing off some steam...
December 1, 2008
This is a carry over from RedSoxFan4ever's earlier blog. I had posted a comment that centered on my take on how retailers are treating Red Sox parphanalia seemingly better now than they used to.
I was WRONG!
Below, an email I just sent to Brookstone about their catalog I just received in the mail and the reason I will not shop there. I've also included a photo of the page, though blurry, you (hopefully) get the idea. Figured you'd get a kick out of it.
Below is my email to [email protected]
Dear Sirs,
I just had to write this to you because it bothers me THAT much. Here's the reason why I will not order from your catalog. It may be silly to you but the design of your most recent catalog (Holiday Gifts 2008) has on page 46 and 47, sports memorabilia. Directing your attention specifically to pg 47, my issue is the pictures that you choose to display. Take the ones underneath "Celebrate Your Championship Teams!" for instance. I understand that the Patriots (which you have pictured there) did not win last year but they usually have been lately and they still have a huge fan base. THat's fine. But then you have..the YANKEES!???.. Since WHEN have THEY been the team the beat?? How about the RED SOX!! And you are just one in a string of organazations who do not give the Red Sox their due so I am sorry to be taking it all out on you in this email but I had thought that things were changing and here you go again!!! I haven't minded all the years that the Yankees were on top but they haven't been for quite awhile. Maybe, someday, they will be again but now the RED SOX are the team to beat, THEY are more associated with a "Championship Team" than any other team in baseball.
Until your advertising is more up-to-date, I will assume your products are out of date, as well.
Sincerely,
Sanna Huebschmann Chilton, WI
