In regards to Manny
September 28, 2008
With the season ending today and Manny's ending yesterday, the final numbers are in for him. I had posted back in July that Manny was replaceable because of his stats, and how they were dropping off. Well,I was right and wrong. Jason Bay fit in nicely and Manny has proved there are numbers left in that crazy tank.
When I posted in July, I mentioned how in 2007 Manny had 20 Homers and 88RBI. That was surpassed by 50 players who had more than both of each, the HR's and RBI total. Manny this year will finish with 37 HR's and 121RBI. Only 1 player, Ryan Howard, and maybe Miguel Cabrera who is tied with Manny at 37HR's, will finish with more HR's and RBI.
These numbers are fantastic, but, they are even more incredible when you look at the Sox/Dodgers splits:
Sox- 100 Games 20 HR 68 RBI .299 BA .529 SLG%
Dodgers- 53 Games 17 HR 53 RBI .396 BA .743 SLG%
Amazing how he produced so much more when he had NO CONTRACT AND WAS PLAYING FOR ONE!!!
