time for some 5th outfielders to move on
it appears more than likely that coco crisp will remain with the red sox for at least the start of the 08 season... meaning the 4th outfield spot will belong to either him or ellsbury...
so why exactly are guys like eric hinske and bobby kielty not trying to move on and pick up with some other team? sure i know boston is the place to be, but with brandon moss in house with a contract.... do these guys think they really have a shot at playing time?
for one the sox announced they were looking for a left handed hitter. kielty and hinske are both left handed. the fact that the sox announced that, after they both had stated AS a left handed hitters that theyd love to stay with the team....that would send me a message that i wasnt wanted.
and seriously, after that....they offered a contract to brad wilkerson! i think the offer to brad wilkerson was more than anything a polite attempt to tell hinske and kielty... "move on guys"... they low balled what he wanted (was probably what he deserved) meaning they probably didnt expect him to sign. besides wilkerson doesnt offer anything to the sox that those two cant.... so get the picture right?
i dont know how much more beating around the bush theo can do without just printing out note cards and handing them to kielty and hinske that say "GET LOST"... he's tried to be classy about it... but red sox love is blind i guess and they cant see that its over for them.
by the way, these reasons more than likely rule out a nixon return as well...
the job will belong to moss who consequently just hit .322 in the domincan winter league.
move on boys.
