clemens and the hatred?

come on guys.... whats with the extreme clemens hating?

yeah i know roger clemens played for the yankees (do you know the story of how he left the sox?) ... and i know that theres a good chance he used steroids (do you think the guys on the mitchell list are REALLY the ONLY ones who used anything?) and sure he's got a monter sized ego... dont 4,000 plus strikeouts and & 7 CY YOUNG awards give him a reason to be so cocky? johan santana has won 2 cy young awards and he's asking for clemens kind of money and everyone seems to love him....

i just dont understand why so many sox fans veiw him as negatively as they do. thing is the man pitched for 12 seasons in boston... he WAS the red sox for most of that tenure... some of you remember that, others of you werent around or were cheering for some other team while the "glory days" of the late 80's-early 90's were going on for the sox.

the guy is pretty much the reason i got into baseball in the first place ... sure i hate some of the things that he's done. but i dont hate him, never will. the guy should be in the hall. now theres articles about his chances and accomplishments being tarnished? and where is most of this coming from? red sox fans....all of this "he's a cheater and a traitor" business... from sox fans? seriously?

so he's made decisions that have kept his name off of the green monster.. i understand that. but i still picture roger clemens when i think of the red sox. he looks weird in any other teams hat to me. it doesnt seem real. its like that old nintendo game "roger clemens MVP baseball" where the teams werent real and every players name was misspelled other than roger's.

the rocket is crucial red sox history. you dont have to agree with him... but you dont have to join his tar and feathering mob either. there are guys on the sox today that grew up looking up to him (beckett) maybe i never pitched well enough to make it pro, but beckett did... he respects clemens so much he wore 21 for florida and then changed to 19 when he came to boston because that number should be respected... and so should the pitcher who wore it.

so yeah, id be for a rocket's return to boston in 08... id love to see #21 on the monster and id love for him to prove his doubters wrong. he's taking the claims against him to court... and i for one hope he wins. i hope all of you who have turned against him eat your words... and for the most part hope you shut up now before you have to.

and lay off mo vaughn too... what he did for and while in boston is awesome.

and yes, i am aware the rocket pitched 13 seasons in boston.

I still have a baseball and a pin (as well as a ton of baseball cards) of him in a Sox uniform. I grew up watching the guy. That said, I can't stand him mainly for the fact that he played for and won with the Skanks which is admittedly a silly bias, but it's one I hold nonetheless. There has to be some cloud over his sudden transformation when he left Boston though, and that will be hard to quantify I know. Rightly or unrightly, that unquantifiable might keep the guy out of the hall...But I'll still have my memorabilia, waiting around for the kids to grow up some more.

	Rocket not only stabbed this franchise in the back after he left but while he was still here his complaining about everything (including the fans)left a bad taste in alot of our mouths....then to leave and talk trash about us everywhere else....screw rocket he's getting what he deserves.....NOTHING the greedy egotistical pinhead!!! 10:52 PM

	Greatest. Pitcher. Ever. The number 21 will always be associates with the Rocket for me. His greatness with the Sox is the reason why I love baseball like I do. Watching the Rocket in his prime with the Sox was like watching Petey in the early 00s - pure beauty in it's finest form. All the naysayers/haters need to wake up 2:15 AM

Excuse me there RICO you may want to check my profile.....I am a 40 yr Sox Fan ...born on one of the most important days in this teams history.....If youy'd like I can quote numerous books and articles to back my statement up or even better I can tell you from my own recollections. I too was a Roger fan early in his career, then the trouble with management started, and later before leaving he was extremely disrespectful to the fans who supported him....if you would like quotes and references let me know ....BUT DON'T EVER CALL ME A BANDWAGON JUMPER...I have been through alot of the same moments with this team as you have!!!!!!!!

Who cares what he used, we all know he was one of the greatest to pitch for Boston. Can any one name another SOX pitcher to strike out 20? And as for the roids who really cares? I say for the money these guys are getting paid let them do whateva kind they want, i want to see a pitcher throw a ball 110 mph or a batter hit a ball 500 plus ft. Isn't that what we are paying them for, for the fans excitement? I think so. Anyways CLEMENS RULES!!!!!!!!!!!!

	First, when Roger was Roger he was great in Boston. It was a sad day when he left Boston. But, done ever say you will never play for the team in NY and then go play for the team in NY. 	Dan Duquette was right about Roger, had he stayed in Boston he never would have been motivated to juice up, he was washed up. After leaving he decided to do whatever needed to prove Dan wrong. Roger is a punk. 8:31 AM

Consider Schilling: while I don't love the guy I have a ton of respect for him because 1) he risked his health to help the Sox win in 2004 and 2) when it was time to re-sign this year, he gave the Sox a hometown discount. Clemens on the other hand, always seems to favor the hated Yankees, even though the Red Sox have all but retired #21, and the Yankees gave away #22 the season after he left. Plus, he has stated that he will go into the hall as a Yankee. I mean, I saw him pitch a bunch of times in the 80s, and loved him as a kid, but these days there seems to be less and less to respect about the man.

elmedius.. at a whopping 26 yrs old DO YOU KNOW the story ??? Yes you are right about Rockets numbers and all...but as a team guy..more times than not..he SUCKED !!! I know , I've seen him play along with Boggs and it always seemed that each one wanted a bigger spotlight. And for him to get ejected arguing a balk in a playoff game..just goes to show where his loyalty was..it wasn't for his team or fans in my book. Just for HIS gain. And Dan Puke-it..was just a Yawkee Foundation Puppet... bring em in the stadium..sell a ton of dogs.. $$$$ ..Let's pretend we want a championship..they won't know...they can't go anywhere else..geographically we have the monopoly... Puke-It didn't LET Roger go.. Roger wanted to go.. I remember it well. Because I was Pissed at Dan for NOT giving Clemens what he wanted at the time. Roger was on his own mission and the Sox were just a stepping stone in his selfish little plan to become a Nolan Clone... AND RICO !!! Your statement to NC really PISSES me off !!! hmmm... bringing my age into question? yeah, i guess youre right man, being 26 i only now just became cognisant of the world and how baseball and people work as a whole...jackass. as a teenager i could see what was going down just as well as you i imagine. my age kind of justifies my clemens obsession if you think about it. even if i wasnt old enough to have been around when clemens left (which i was), the same limited: what they want you to know information is still around. but actually thanks for adding a synopsis of the events to the blog. its pretty accurate, and by the way i dont hate manny for having a personal agenda either.

Here's a slight peee hole ..Rocket pitched 13 seasons NOT 12....Under the Puke-it and Mz Yawkee and foundation era there was no Mission Statement that we have today..(If anyone believes that Dan and Yawk(s) were after a Championship..they lived on Mars) Anyway..So during that time did you NOT see the "friction" between Boggs and Clemens ?? And then let's add in the Mo factor.. oh oh NO ..."and lay off mo vaughn too... what he did for and while in boston is awesome" Yeh O.K. I have to say it was a fun trip with Mo .. he was a Character alright. 13 years, youre right. did bad math in my head from 84 to 96. and i didnt say anyone accused me of hating manny. im just saying i dont hate him and his personal agendas either. since personal agendas seem to be what you have a problem with. and what did mo vaughn do? well, over 8 years (yes i did the math right this time) he hit over .320 hit 263 homers, drove in 752 runs and won a MVP. coincidently vaughn is the only other red sox player to win an MVP in the last 20 years. clemens won it in 86. and since you brought my age into it, yeah, those are the only two sox players to have won mvp's while i was alive... so that gives me reason enough to like them.

of course you might not be able to finish a thought at one time. seems to be my problem right now. all im really trying to say is that roger clemens is without a doubt one of the top 5 names in red sox history. theres plenty of other people trying to drag his name through the mud right now. keep in mind that anything damaging to his reputation is damaging to the red sox reputation as a whole because of his place in the team's history and record books. so why are red sox fans of all people, not shutting up and letting things play through if they cant be supportive? i never thought id see the day a sox fan would give someone crap for liking ROGER CLEMENS! itd be like 15 years from now giving someone a hard time for liking tom brady.

Elmedius has a good point....even though he is accused of juicing in the last few years it is a reflection on this orginization.......I came across an interesting picture in someones album (can't remember who though) it was of Mo Vaugh, Roger Clemens, And Jose Canseco together in a sox uni. Just made me giggle a little!!! Oh And to the Folks up top with their support of me not being a bandwagoner I just want to say thank you and Merry Christmas to sox fans everywhere!!!
