I was writing my Philly cheese steak blog yesterday when the doorbell rang, It was the post man with a package for me , hmm I really wasn’t expecting anything, then I saw the package was from Iraq, and memories flooded my mind instantly.
I have a dear friend over there, and last we spoke he told me he had a coin that I would love and he was sending it too me ,
My friend and brother Christian Farrow is serving in Iraq, we talk on the phone, and he reads my blogs ,we don’t catch up much online because of the time difference, the package seemed awfully large for a little pin, and to my surprise when I opened it there was , a teeshirt, and the coin he had promised me, all complete with his companies insignia,
I was beside myself , here is a man serving our country in a foreign land who took the time and effort to send this to me ,
Brother Christian said that our phone conversations keep him grounded in the real world back home, and that he so looks forward to my blogs, and our contact , sometimes he said it helps him keep his sanity in that godless land,
That ladies and gentlemen is why I blog here. For him, and the others who read my blogs, and enjoy them for what they are. Entertainment and sometimes insight into the team we all love.,
So no matter how many negative votes they may garner , or no matter how misunderstood or mistaken they may be, they will continue for the good they have done for Brother Christian, and the others that I know look forward to them and enjoy them.
Heres to brother Christian , God bless you and keep you safe , may you have an angel on your shoulder until you return to us .
